Chateau Greysac

Our Story

The destiny of Château Greysac has always been linked to people hearts. For more than six decades, strong personalities have succeeded one another.

The first of all is the person who created this wine, Georges Héreil; a renowned engineer who was president of the French Civil Aviation Authority and one of the designers of the Caravelle aircraft. He felt in love (at first sight!) with Greysac and bought the gorgeous mansion in 1960, as well as a plot of 20 ha of vines on the land of By.

Georges Héreil introduced Château Greysac to a number of friends and acquaintances, a first step towards making the château famous.

After forteen years of hard work building up Château Greysac reputation he sold it to François de Gunzburg in 1974. The new owner is an extraordinary character, an empire baron from a family of Russian bankers, endowed with a formidable character, a fertile energy, but more than that, a worldwide address book.

In fact, François de Gunzburg bought Greysac in partnership with the Agnelli family, a huge figure in the luxury car industry (Fiat, Ferrari) and just as passionate about wine than cars … It is actually the latter who will fully take over the management of the vineyard for over 30 years.

Since 2012, Château Greysac belongs to Jean Guyon whose secret of success lies in treating his Crus Bourgeois with the same care as the Crus Classés but with added affordability.

To do so, Jean Guyon implemented new canopy management, restructured the entire vineyard and instaured sustainable farming as well as high technology winemaking process. Thus, over the years he took Château Greysac to its prime.
Our days Château Greysac is the French wine the most sold is the USA.
